? What’s the big deal with little vehicles ? Check out Senior Associate Sarah C. Saltz's insightful Cityfi blog post about how small, light urban vehicles (LUVs) are proliferating in cities, towns and villages in the U.S., and starting to cause some tension.? LUVs include a range of vehicle types that are smaller than a conventional car, but larger than a bicycle. They are cheap, clean, and convenient for both goods delivery and everyday person travel. Back to the original question - so what’s the issue? Read more in today’s Cityfi blog post about these vehicles and how and why public officials and private industry leaders are coming together to chart a path for harmonious growth. https://lnkd.in/gv6Q-F8T #transportation #policy #innovation #cities #mobility

We are extremely excited to be working on this MUCH needed endeavor of standardizing and pushing forward the adoption of ultra-light e-mobility modes in the U.S. We are proud to be a part of the process with Shared-Use Mobility Center and Urban Freight Lab of bringing together stakeholders from all facets of this world (state and local policymakers, industry, and the communities who use these form factors) who will be able to make tangible impacts on bringing these modes to the U.S. We are also very grateful for the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation for recognizing the importance of this work! Some key highlights of this project: ?? Focus on Light Urban Vehicles (LUVs): Including e-cargo delivery bikes, e-tuktuks, microtrucks, and low-speed/neighborhood electric vehicles. ?? Addressing regulatory challenges: Developing model policies and codes to streamline adoption of these eco-friendly mobility options. ?? Collaborative approach: Bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders. ?? Climate and accessibility goals: Promoting clean, affordable, and safe-speed mobility solutions #SustainableMobility #UrbanTransportation #CleanEnergy #Innovation
I am so incredibly thrilled to share that the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation has selected a Shared-Use Mobility Center , Cityfi and Urban Freight Lab collaboration to promote regulatory consistency and support the scaling of ultralight e-mobility modes in the US. Light-urban vehicles (LUVs) encompass devices such as e-cargo delivery trikes (or quads!), e-tuktuks, microtrucks, and low-speed vehicles/neighborhood electric vehicles (LSVs/NEVs). Globally these devices fill a crucial gap and provide clean, affordable, safe-speed mobility that is accessible to a broad array of people and uses. Nationally, these e-mobility solutions face a confusing patchwork of inconsistent policies and regulations. This project will bring together state and local policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholder advocates to craft well-informed policy templates that promote climate, accessibility, and economic growth objectives. This is only one step in what will undoubtedly be a long process, but one that could lead to a radical mobility transformation that is cleaner, safer, and more equitable.

??Exciting news for sustainable transportation! The Communities Taking Charge grants have been announced!?? This morning, the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation announced the Communities Taking Charge (CTC) Accelerator grant awardees. 25 projects were selected, impacting 23 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. We're thrilled to announce that Cityfi is a proud partner in three of these groundbreaking projects! This $43.7 million federal funding initiative will drive innovation in equitable clean transportation across the nation. The grants will support crucial initiatives such as: ?? Expanding charging access for privately owned e-mobility ?? Electrifying micro, light, and medium-duty fleets ?Implementing managed charging for clean, reliable energy These projects will play a vital role in addressing key barriers to e-mobility adoption, accelerating the transition to electrified fleets, and optimizing grid usage. By focusing on disadvantaged communities, the program ensures that the benefits of clean transportation reach all Americans. The Communities Taking Charge Accelerator is a significant step towards meeting our national decarbonization goals and creating good-paying jobs in the clean energy sector. We're honored to be part of this transformative effort and look forward to contributing to a more sustainable, equitable transportation future for all. A big congratulations goes out to all of the recipients of this grant, as these projects will push forward innovation in expanding #zeroemission #transportation options and a more resilient and scalable energy system to serve electrification. As Los Angeles grapples with devastating wildfires, the critical role of urban planning in combating climate change becomes increasingly apparent. These fires serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for resilient city design and proactive climate strategies. In early 2022, Senior Principal Camron Bridgford, AICP penned a thought-provoking article titled "No Longer Shocked: Urban Planning in the Time of Climate Change." This piece, inspired by the Marshall Fire in Colorado, offers valuable insights that resonate with LA's current situation. Key takeaways from the article: ??? Climate change is no longer a future threat but a present reality affecting our cities. ?? Urban planners must prioritize climate resilience in every aspect of city design. ?? We need to develop a common language around urban resilience and create frameworks for prioritizing actions. https://lnkd.in/gBrzSu8W As Camron aptly states, "Without a heavyweight planning approach to climate change, I'm unclear what else matters or which of these ideals could ever be accomplished." Let's use this moment to reflect on how we can build more resilient cities. We invite you to read the full article and share your thoughts on urban planning's role in addressing climate change. #UrbanPlanning #ClimateResilience #SustainableCities #LAFires
