A community is only as strong as the people who lift each other up. This morning, we hosted a thank-you breakfast to honor the nonprofit and housing service providers who do just that. Wheeler Mission, Centerstone, HealthNet and so many others are making a difference every day. The City is grateful for their partnership and dedication to creating a more inclusive Bloomington.

Sometimes, a little break and good company go a long way. Today, employees stopped by the Office of the Mayor (OOTM) Open House to grab a cup of coffee, connect with colleagues, and say hello to our very own Deputy Dog Riley. Building a strong, collaborative culture within our team helps us serve our community better. Brief moments like these spark new ideas and keep us energized for the important work ahead.

This past weekend, the Black History Month Gala brought generations together in a powerful tribute. While February has come to a close, the spirit of this gathering—of honoring, uplifting, and carrying forward—lives on. Special applause to the Commission on the Status of Black Males and the Community & Family Resources Department for leading this beautiful event, along with the countless hands and hearts that made the evening possible. Thank you to all who joined in making this a night of celebration, connection, and community.

This morning, we had the privilege of gathering with Bloomington’s faith leaders for a meaningful conversation about how we can work together to uplift and support our community compassionately. We are grateful for the wisdom, dedication, and care that our faith leaders bring to their congregations and to our city. Their work inspires us to listen more deeply, act more boldly, and continue fostering a community where all feel valued and supported.
