关于我们
City Year helps students and schools succeed, while preparing the next generation of leaders. City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and the whole school. Schools that partner with City Year are up to two to three times more likely to improve in English and math assessments, and the more time students spend with AmeriCorps members, the more they improve on skills that help students thrive in school and contribute to their community. A proud member of the AmeriCorps national service network, City Year is supported by AmeriCorps, local school districts and private philanthropy. City Year partners with public schools in 29 communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and South Africa.

We are proud to announce the continuation of the SSC Learning Network funded by California Volunteers, Office of the Governor. This iteration of the SSC Learning Network will focus on increasing recruitment and retention of student success coaches for AmeriCorps California education programs, strengthening programs like City Year that provide tutoring and mentoring in schools and other nonprofit organizations across the state. “Over the last two years, over 1,100 student success coaches in the California SSC Learning Network have reached over 76,000 students across 25 cities in California, and we now have an opportunity with this continued partnership to help even more young adults reach their potential,” says Jim Balfanz, City Year CEO. “Their service has helped students improve academic performance and been credited with increases in attendance.” https://bit.ly/3DRunWk

On Saturday, we were proud to announce the official launch of a new statewide student success coach strategy in New York thanks to a $5M multi-year investment from the Einhorn Collaborative. This partnership will expand our work with SUNY to create more opportunities for young people to service, more pathways to teaching. We are also inviting SUNY students to serve with City Year before, during, or after working toward a degree at one of SUNY's 64 campuses. A 2024 City Year Alumni Bridging study conducted in partnership with Einhorn and Cornell University provided evidence that the durable skills gained during a year of service - skills that include critical thinking, creativity and leadership — are helping young people be well-prepared for college, career and life.
