WOODSTOCK, GA (November 7, 2024) – On Thursday, October 31st, representatives from?The City of Woodstock, Georgia, Office of Economic Development?were pleased to present a check in the amount of $7,000 to the Woodstock Wolverines Band Boosters. The funds were raised from the annual Taste of Woodstock event in mid-September, which brings local restaurants and eateries together to share small bites of their favorite dishes with the public. Tasting tickets were priced at $1/ticket, with revenue donated to the Woodstock High School Band Boosters. Despite rain and wind on the day of the Taste event, residents and visitors of Woodstock came out in great numbers to show support for local eateries and the high school band program. The event was kicked off with a performance by the Woodstock Wolverines Marching Band itself, followed by music from local performing artists Levi Ransom, Spencer Scott Smith, and Stephanie Berlanga... The City of Woodstock Communications Division was honored last month in Arlington, TX with a Silver Circle Award in the category of Digital Interactive Issue Specific Website for the Woodstock Summer Concert Series website. The award was presented by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). Judges' comments on Woodstock's entry included, "Love this concept!", "Can I come visit Woodstock?", and "Excellent entry!" In the award entry, Woodstock Marketing and Communications Manager Stacy Brown, TMP stated the goals of the relaunch "were to create a vibrant website that would digitally convey the energy of the in-person events, to increase the value of season sponsorships through better placement and enhanced web traffic, and to provide better concert-goer service through more effective engagement tools." According to Brown, in its first four months, the new site helped the series build a mailing list of over 1,800 subscribers and staff interacted in conversations online with nearly 120 potential sponsors, vendors, performers, and attendees. Analytics showed an over 7% increase in site sessions over the prior year, the new concert series welcomed visitors from all 50 states during the 2024 season, and the time users spent on the site in a session increased 236% from one minute and nine seconds in 2023 to two minutes and forty-three seconds in 2024. According to Woodstock Parks and Recreation staff, the innovative new marketing tool reduced the volume of calls received in the weeks before the season starts from a constant stream all day in years past to none in 2024. Mayor Michael Caldwell recognized the accomplishment at the Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council on September 23, 2024. "Our city summer concert series is the largest free summer concert series in the southeast," said Mayor Caldwell. "And now we invite you to attend with an award-winning website and an even better layout." During the 2024 Georgia Governor's Tourism Conference today, Governor Brian Kemp announced that Georgia broke tourism records for the second year in a row and maintained its No. 5 market share ranking among all 50 states and Washington, D.C., for the fourth consecutive year. In 2023, Georgia reached a new high of 171 million domestic and international visitors who spent a record $43.6 billion on hotels, restaurants, transportation, and other local businesses across the state.
