The City of Woodstock Communications Division was honored last month in Arlington, TX with a Silver Circle Award in the category of Digital Interactive Issue Specific Website for the Woodstock Summer Concert Series website. The award was presented by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). Judges' comments on Woodstock's entry included, "Love this concept!", "Can I come visit Woodstock?", and "Excellent entry!" In the award entry, Woodstock Marketing and Communications Manager Stacy Brown, TMP stated the goals of the relaunch "were to create a vibrant website that would digitally convey the energy of the in-person events, to increase the value of season sponsorships through better placement and enhanced web traffic, and to provide better concert-goer service through more effective engagement tools." According to Brown, in its first four months, the new site helped the series build a mailing list of over 1,800 subscribers and staff interacted in conversations online with nearly 120 potential sponsors, vendors, performers, and attendees. Analytics showed an over 7% increase in site sessions over the prior year, the new concert series welcomed visitors from all 50 states during the 2024 season, and the time users spent on the site in a session increased 236% from one minute and nine seconds in 2023 to two minutes and forty-three seconds in 2024. According to Woodstock Parks and Recreation staff, the innovative new marketing tool reduced the volume of calls received in the weeks before the season starts from a constant stream all day in years past to none in 2024. Mayor Michael Caldwell recognized the accomplishment at the Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council on September 23, 2024. "Our city summer concert series is the largest free summer concert series in the southeast," said Mayor Caldwell. "And now we invite you to attend with an award-winning website and an even better layout." Mayor Caldwell said that the lineup for next year's concert series will be announced soon and promised that it's going to be an exciting season. https://lnkd.in/eDm3e3qA

The City of Woodstock posthumously presented retired Firefighter David Gray with the Tessa Basford Award in recognition of his steadfast demonstration of service before self at the September 9th Regular Meeting of Mayor and Council. Gray was scheduled to receive the award in person at Monday’s meeting, but he passed away on Sunday, September 8th?after a 33-month battle with cancer. ? Gray, known affectionately by his coworkers as Dega Dave, joined the Woodstock Fire Department in 2005. He began his career as a firefighter with the City of Morrow four years earlier. ? At Monday’s Council Meeting, Mayor Michael Caldwell was joined by Fire Chief Shane Dobson and Deputy Fire Chief Jimmy Eley as he read a proclamation presenting the award to the chiefs to get safely to the Gray family. The mayor expressed the gratitude of the city and Woodstock City Council saying it was an honor to have been the professional home of Firefighter Gray. ? “I hope that, were I ever to face a similar situation, I could rise to the moment the way that David Gray did,” said Mayor Michael Caldwell. “Just a spectacular human being who left every room he was in brighter, he was a spectacular example of not just sharing joy but pointing to God in the midst of all of it.” Mayor Caldwell concluded his remarks with a moment of silence in the Council Chambers as a tribute to David Gray and in honor of his family. ? Funeral Services for David Gray will be held on Friday, September 13th?at 1 pm at His Hands Church. A procession with public safety employees and apparatus will take place from the church to Lakeside Funeral Home. All are welcome to participate in the procession. A final farewell for immediate family only will take place following the procession. ? In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in honor of Gray to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
