Say hello to the dynamic duo behind our youth programs at West Lafayette Parks and Recreation! Haley Grizzle, our Youth Development Coordinator, and Makayla Nehrt, our Assistant Youth Development Coordinator, work hard to create fun, safe, and engaging experiences for kids at the Clubhouse, after-school care, and the John R. Dennis Wellness Center camps. Recently, they attended the American Camp Association conference in Dallas, where they connected with other camp professionals, shared ideas, and gained valuable insights to enhance our programs!

We’re excited to announce the grand opening of Cason Family Park in West Lafayette on Thursday, May 22, 2025 (Time TBA)! . Thanks to a generous donation from Lynn Cason, 14 acres of retired farmland have been transformed into West Lafayette's newest park. This effort not only preserves the iconic Morris Schoolhouse, but also honors the dedication of community members like Sue Eiler, who was key in saving and restoring the beloved one-room schoolhouse. Cason Family Park's development reflects years of collaboration between city leaders, local residents, and advocates committed to protecting and celebrating West Lafayette’s green spaces and history. We can’t wait for you to experience everything Cason Family Park offers!

Join us in celebrating the appointment of our new department heads. Today, Mayor Erin Easter swore in Chad Spitznagle as the new Housing Director and Jason Hardebeck as the Building Commissioner. Having served as the Deputy Building Commissioner for nine years, Jason is ready to take the reins and lead his team. Meanwhile, Chad, who previously held the position of Building Commissioner, is now stepping into his new role, focusing on our city's commitment to addressing community housing concerns. Congratulations, Chad and Jason!
