We're excited to announce that our Victorville Wellness Center was named a?2024 Best Building Project of the Year by the American Public Works Association!?A record-breaking 97 entries from 53 agencies were submitted this year showcasing remarkable commitment to advancing public works in Southern California. The Wellness Center is at the heart of our strategic goal to reduce homelessness in the #cityofvv. Since opening at the end of 2023, nearly 100 individuals have graduated through our support services to permanent housing.?Congratulations to our amazing Victorville City Team for their efforts to bring our vision for the Wellness Center to life! August was an exciting and busy month for us at the #cityofvv! We launched our project to update traffic signals on 7th Street to include additional ADA and safety features and we were awarded a $200,000 grant from the Kaiser Foundation to support recuperative care services at our Wellness Center. At our City Council meeting this week, we swore in Josh Sprague and Travis Espinoza as our new #cityofvvfire Battalion Chiefs. Both are High Desert natives with deep roots in Victorville and Barstow. We are excited to welcome them and can't wait to see how they help take our our Victorville Fire Department to the next level for our #cityofvv community.?

We had a great time during our #cityofvv Bring Your Dog to Work Day this year!?There were costume and trick competitions and homemade dog treats.?We bonded over our favorite pets and even found a home for one of the stray dogs in our care.?Overall a “feel good” day for all!

We had a very talented group?of college students graduate from our?inaugural #cityofvv?internship program!?After nine months, three have been hired into full-time positions with the City of Victorville, one is pursuing a master's degree, one is returning to college to finish his degree,?and?one is securing employment in the private sector.?We started our?internship program to develop future talent,?and?it's paying off in a big way!?We're grateful for their contributions?and?excited?for the next class of?interns?that will start work this fall.??
