Yesterday Mayor Caroline Simmons hosted her Business Advisory Council meeting at the incredible WWE headquarters in Stamford. Thank you to everyone who joined us - representing many of our largest employers and strongest partners including Stamford Health, Indeed, Lovesac, M&T Bank, Bank of America, Philip Morris International, Deloitte, Connecticut Innovations, Stamford Chamber of Commerce, The Stamford Partnership, the Hispanic Advisory Council of Greater Stamford, AdvanceCT and representatives from the City's Economic Development Commission. The Stamford Arts & Culture Commission (SACC) has received a National Endowment of the Arts (NEA) grant to create a mural that is a part of the newly built Stamford Transportation Center parking garage (located on North State Street). SACC seeks an artist or team to design and paint a mural that reflects Stamford’s landmarks and culture (e.g., parks, waterfronts, beaches, downtown, nature centers, public transportation), abstract art, and/or rail transportation. Artists and residents are invited to attend the community input session this Wednesday, October 30th, at 6:00 p.m. at The Palace Theatre to help shape the final design. Stamford's Arts and Culture Commission has released a Request for Proposals for an artist or group of artists to create a Wall Mural that is a part of the newly built Stamford Transportation Center parking garage (located on North State Street). Once completed, this Wall Mural will serve as a vibrant interactive community-serving corridor that both pedestrians and drivers can enjoy and take pride in. The community will have the opportunity to share their input at a public meeting on October 30th, 2024 at The Palace Theatre at 6:00pm. Artists are welcome to attend. The City of Stamford is seeking community members and stakeholders interested in applying for a spot on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) which will help shape the Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan. This is a limited-seats opportunity for you to shape our city’s future by lending your technical expertise in one of the Stamford 2035 Comprehensive Plan’s six focus areas to help create a visionary yet actionable roadmap for the city’s future. Stamford 2035 focuses on six areas critical to Stamford’s long-term success: ?? Sustainability and Resilience ?? Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Strategies (I.D.E.A.S.) ?? Housing ?? Economic Development ?? Mobility ?? Infrastructure As a TAC member, you will represent your focus area’s interests and serve as a vital link by disseminating information back to your network, ensuring extended reach, visibility, transparency, and engagement throughout the planning process. Participation Expectations: As a Technical Advisor, you can expect to attend bi-monthly meetings, with a maximum of 5 meetings over the course of a 10-month process. These meetings will provide a platform for discussion, collaboration, and feedback on key initiatives. Specific dates and times for meetings will be provided at a later date.
