With only a few days left for spring open burning, here are some reminders of the guidelines and restrictions if you plan to participate: 🔥Fires are allowed only between 8am-6pm and must be fully extinguished by 6pm. Open burning takes place during the months of April and November. 🔥All fires must be in an upright container no more than 55 gallons. 🔥Only yard waste (leaves, brush, logs) can be burned. No trash, paper, lumber or building debris can be burned. 🔥If weather conditions such as high winds occur, a temporary burn ban may be put in place. There will be no burning when a red flag warning is in place and open burning will not be extended due to weather blackout days. 🔥Before burning, make sure to check the city's social media pages, Channel 19 or website at stjosephmo.gov for temporary burn bans. • Reminder, the City of St. Joseph is inviting residents to complete the 2025 Direction Finder Survey. The St. Joseph City Council is responsible for making decisions that impact city services such as Public Safety, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Code Enforcement, Planning and Zoning and more. To make sure the city's priorities are aligned with the needs of our residents, we need to hear from them. Completing the survey takes time, but every question is important. The time invested in the survey will directly influence decisions that will be made to shape the future of our city. Resident responses are a catalyst for city leadership and staff to identify and address many of the opportunities and challenges facing our community. Since beginning his role as City Manager this past January, Mike Schumacher has pursued the survey as a top priority stating, "The survey is essential to meeting the expectations of the community." Approximately 4,000 randomly selected residents will receive the survey by mail; however, any resident may access the survey on-line. Residents are asked to complete the survey as soon as possible. The identity of survey participants is confidential. St. Joseph residents may complete the survey on-line at https://stjosephsurvey.org.
