The City of South Lake Tahoe is a general law city in El Dorado County, CA, that was founded on November 30, 1965. Located 190 miles northeast of San Francisco, CA and 60 miles southwest of Reno, NV in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, South Lake Tahoe boasts one of the most unique settings in the world, at the edge of an alpine lake of great natural beauty and environmental value. The city limits encompass an area of approximately 16 square miles with an average elevation of 6,200 feet above sea level and a population of 22,525.

    This week, we celebrated our 3rd annual City Manager's Employee Excellence Awards ??—a special event dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the hard work and dedication of all our employees. We were thrilled to highlight outstanding team members who go above and beyond, exemplifying the City's core values through their accomplishments ??. Awards were presented in three categories: the Incense Cedar Award ??, Aspen Award ??, and Sugar Pine Award ??. Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners! ?? What’s a Business Walk? It’s a fun and engaging way for volunteers to go door-to-door to local businesses, ask key questions, and gather valuable feedback.     ?? Exciting Milestone Alert! ?? This past week, we celebrated a major step in the construction of our new Recreation and Aquatics Center with a Topping Off Ceremony! ????? The ceremony marks the moment when the final beam was placed on top of the structure, symbolizing the near completion of the building’s framework. This 64,000 sq. ft. facility will feature a six-lane pool, lazy river, rooftop event space, gymnasium, elevated track, and so much more—all designed with the community's input and sustainability in mind! ?? A huge thank you to JKAE Architecture, SierraCon, Inc., WILDAN, Roebbelen Contracting, Inc., and City Staff for helping us bring this vision to life. We’re one step closer to opening this incredible community space, and we couldn’t have made it this far without their hard work and the community's support. ??
