关于我们

Siloam Springs is a municipal government in Benton County, Arkansas. The city shares a border on the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line with the town of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma. The city was founded in 1882 and was characterized by the purported healing powers of the spring water feeding Sager Creek, which runs through downtown Siloam Springs and trading with nearby Native American tribes. John Brown University (JBU) was founded in 1919 as a private, interdenominational, Christian liberal arts college in the city. Today, Siloam Springs is known for its efforts to preserve and revitalize the city's historic downtown. The community is located on the western edge of the growing NW Arkansas metropolitan area and has had a population increase of 13.7% to 17,100 between 2010 and the 2019 population estimate. In 2012, the city was named one of the 20 best small towns in America by Smithsonian magazine and has won numerous awards and accolades. The city houses the electric, water, wastewater, trash, recycling, streets, public library, a municipal airport, building, planning, engineering, district court, police, fire, economic development, cemetery, parks and recreation, and animal shelter divisions internally.

?? Let’s talk about annexation! Residents of Siloam Springs and those in the proposed annexation area will have the opportunity to vote on this issue during the November 5, 2024, election. ??? We’re here to answer your questions and provide resources about the annexation process. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing a Q&A series to address some of the most common questions! __ Why is the City of Siloam Springs considering annexation? ?? Growth & Development: The City is growing, with a population increase of about 3% each year and around 30 people moving to Northwest Arkansas daily. To manage this growth responsibly, Siloam Springs is considering annexation to ensure there’s space for future development. ?? Supporting Sustainable Growth: Annexation brings new land into the City, allowing for planned, managed development. This ensures land use is strategic and that transportation networks are planned in advance. ?? Keeping Utility Rates Lower: By expanding the City’s utility customer base, annexation helps maintain lower utility rates in the long term. New streets, utilities, and services will be developed by private developers, reducing taxpayer costs. ?? Cost-Effective Timing: Annexing land before development is up to 355% cheaper than doing so after utilities are established by other providers. This timing avoids the costly process of buying out existing utility providers, such as Carroll Electric. ??? Orderly Growth Management: Annexation helps prevent unmanaged and unregulated expansion by applying proper zoning. Even without annexation, growth will continue, but it may be unplanned and difficult to regulate. __ For more questions and information about annexation, visit siloamsprings.com or stay tuned for our Q&A posts! ??
