Notice of Upcoming Aerial Tree Work (via helicopter) along San Leandro Creek Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (District) has completed an updated tree assessment along San Leandro Creek between Huff Avenue and I-580 Freeway. This assessment, conducted on District property, evaluated the overall health of the trees and their potential for failure. It also identified necessary treatments, including pruning or removal where required. The Tree Assessment Technical Memorandum can be accessed on-line at: https://lnkd.in/gxK9axQM Due to limited access and to minimize impacts on the creek environment, the District will use a helicopter for aerial tree pruning and removal. Residents will hear the helicopter hovering above the tree pruning and removal sites along the creek and traveling between these locations and staging areas during operational hours. Indigenous trees will be planted after the tree removal and pruning work is completed. The tree work is planned for the month of November 2024. Helicopter operations will take place during weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, and are expected to last approximately five days. If you have any questions about this project, please contact Paul Knobel at (510) 670-5775 or e-mail [email protected].
