On Tuesday, Rome officials hosted representatives from sister city, Kumamoto, Japan. The sister city relationship was formed 30 years ago. Rome has several industries that have located into the Rome community from Japan.

Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Rome is the largest city and the county seat of Floyd County, Georgia, United States. It is the principal city of the Rome, Georgia, Metropolitan Statistical Area, population 96,250 (2009), which encompasses all of Floyd County. At the 2010 census, the city itself had a total population of 36,303, and is the largest city in Northwest Georgia and the 19th largest city in the state.

At Monday night's City Commission Meeting, the commission recognized Black History Month and honored Bridge Builders. Commissioner Bill Collins, Rome City School Board Chair Faith Collins, and Chief of Police Denise Downer-McKinney were recognized for their servant leadership. Thank you for your work to serve and bridge relationships in our community. (Faith Collins is not pictured because she was sick and unable to attend the meeting.)
