Kara King has been named Young Professional of the Year. This prestigious award honors her leadership, work achievements, and volunteerism, recognizing her as a standout professional under the age of 35. David Stone, a 30-year veteran in Parks and Recreation, has been honored with the Lifetime Award, highlighting his enduring contributions to the industry that have left a lasting impact. Additionally, Billy Cotton, a longtime community volunteer with 49 years of coaching, has been honored as Champion of the Year for his incredible dedication to shaping the lives of athletes and contributing to the broader parks and recreation community. Say hello to Brandy Oliver. Brandy is new to Northwest Arkansas, but is a native Arkansan. She has lived in every corner of the state over the last 15 years, working for Arkansas State Parks. Her last role with them had her managing construction while she was Parks Superintendent at Lake Chicot State Park all the way in the tip of Southeast Arkansas. We’re so happy that she has found her way to Rogers! As the Deputy Facilities Manager, Brandy is helping to coordinate preventative maintenance and streamline maintenance solutions for city facilities. In her opinion, Rogers has it together! She is excited to be involved with this growing city. What does Brandy do for fun? Make things. She has been weaving since she was little and also enjoys metal work and glass work. Most of her creations are small artwork, knick-knacks and jewelry. Brandy also enjoys the company of her people. These include her boyfriend and his daughter, her nieces, a bearded dragon, and her dog “Turtle”. You just may run into Brandy at one of the many city facilities. The City of Rogers invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with the Rogers Christmas Parade and the return of the Rogers Christmas Village. The parade, organized by the Rotary Clubs of Rogers and sponsored by First National Bank NWA, will take place on Friday, December 6th at 6:30 p.m., following its traditional route in downtown Rogers. Parade entries will compete for awards in four fun categories. Thank you to Walmart for their generous donation of 25 Strider bikes to Jones Elementary as part of the All Kids Bike project. Mayor Hines attended the celebration, where these bikes were given to the school to be utilized in the kindergarten PE curriculum. These bikes will help these young riders gain confidence and develop lifelong skills!

Habitat for Humanity continues to do great work in Northwest Arkansas! Another family will be getting an affordable home soon in Rogers. Congrats to the Corron family. It was an honor to break ground with you!

Meet Officer Don Lisi. Don is new to his role as the Public Information Officer for the Rogers Police Department, but is already a familiar face in Rogers. In fact, he was born and raised in Rogers, graduating from Rogers High School. Afterwards, he played baseball in college and was a college pitching coach for a few years. How did he end up at the Rogers Police Department you ask? He just walked in. Don decided he wanted to be an officer, walked into RPD and conveniently ran into a former school resource officer that he knew from when he was young. They walked through the application process and the rest is history. He has done patrol, worked in the Training Division, and is instrumental in keeping the department’s accreditation up to date. Now, he is excited about this new role of media relations, social media management, and community events. Don is married with two young daughters. The family enjoys hiking and Jiu Jitsu. Don is also huge into bow hunting and fly fishing. If you ever need to keep a conversation going, ask him about the fly rods he builds! There is a good chance you will see Officer Lisi at a community event or on the local news. If you get a chance to meet him, make sure and say hello.
