BRACE Day: Connecting Career Advisors with Real-World Workforce Pathways BRACE Days continue to be a powerful way to connect career advisors with the industries shaping today’s workforce. Through a partnership between The Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and Broward County Public Schools BRACE Advisors, these events provide firsthand exposure to the industries actively hiring and uncovering career opportunities for students. BRACE Advisors play a critical role in helping students navigate their futures—whether that’s college, trade/apprenticeships, military service, or direct-to-career pathways. To guide them effectively, advisors need direct insight into real-world career opportunities. Advisors started the day with two industry tours, seeing career pathways in action: Kennesaw Juice Company – More than just juice, this tour highlighted the diverse occupations behind the operation, from manufacturing to life sciences. Ari Segal provided insight into how these career paths intersect in a production environment. CHAMPION CONTROLS, INC. – A tour led by Marcel Wedderburn, MBA, showcasing manufacturing, fabrication, and control systems—fields that connect directly to careers in engineering, manufacturing, and technology. From there, the conversation expanded into workforce opportunities with ocean resiliency, with Katherine Hendrickson, M.S.M.Sci, C.P.R.P, Rob Wyre, and Susan A. Colton presenting on Wahoo Bay and Shipwreck Park—showing how marine conservation, sustainability, and industry intersect to create careers in environmental science, research, and education. The day wrapped up with a Pompano Beach government panel, where NGUYEN TRAN LEED AP, Rita Wells, Mark Beaudreau, and Vincent Marchione explored careers in tourism, economic development, recreation, and city planning—sectors that play a major role in local workforce development but aren’t always top of mind when discussing career pathways. Meaningful talent pipelines are built through collaboration between educators and industry. BRACE Days play a key role in that effort, ensuring advisors have the knowledge and connections to guide students toward high-wage, sustainable careers.
