The City proudly unveiled a new sign for Brooks Plaza, honoring the memory of Mayor Richard Brooks, who passed away in 2019. A cherished member of the Plainwell community, Rick Brooks lived in the city for 53 years with his wife, Theresa, their three sons, and five grandchildren. He was a dedicated family man and a devoted public servant, spending 26 years on the City Council, 20 of those as Mayor. Rick was known for his love of the annual Tree Lighting ceremony, where he joyfully led children in the countdown to light the tree. With his warm smile, approachable demeanor, and a passion for classic rock and roll, Rick Brooks embodied the spirit of Plainwell and was a steadfast advocate for its residents.
