Trailblazer. Scholar. Advocate. Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander shattered barriers as the first Black woman to graduate from Penn’s law school, the first admitted to the Pennsylvania bar, and the first in the U.S. to earn a Ph.D. in economics. A pioneering civil rights attorney, she championed justice with unwavering integrity, paving the way for generations to come. This Black History Month, our office honors her enduring legacy. Creative Philadelphia, the City’s Office of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, is designing a statue in her honor to be installed outside the Municipal Services Building. Our office joined the City of Philadelphia CAO #KellyGreenChallenge at the iconic bronze Eagle in Macy's. As we took the picture, we looked to the right and saw this powerful quote on the wall, "Let those who follow me continue to build with the plumb of honor the level of truth and the square of integrity education courtesy and mutuality." John Wannamaker....Go birds!

We are so fortunate to be a part of the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws community! This year's annual conference in Los Angeles promised to be (and was) one for the record books as COGEL celebrated 50 years since its founding. With representatives from our office, the City of Philadelphia - Law Department, Philadelphia City Council, and the Board of Ethics | City of Philadelphia serving as moderators and panelists, Philly surely represented on the West Coast. A special shout-out to our CIO, Danielle Gardner Wright, who moderated a fantastic panel on employment before, during, and after government service.

It's integrity week, and of course we wouldn't miss it! Board staff (and our mascot, Ethel the Ethics Seal) joined friends from the Office of the Chief Integrity Officer | City of Philadelphia and Office of the Inspector General for tabling on Tuesday. Board staff also co-hosted a training with CIO to help employees brush up on the gift rules before the holidays. Many thanks to CIO for putting together an exciting slate of integrity-focused events! #govethics #philadelphia #integrity
