Congratulations to Lora Hooks, Senior Planner, for being our Employee of the Month (January). She has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication by leading the Planning Department, ensuring its continued success and efficiency. Lora successfully revised the backyard chicken ordinance, coordinating with the City Attorney and guiding it to approval by the City Council. She also played a key role in preparing the City for the January 1st rollout of the new Short-Term Rental application process, a significant initiative requiring careful planning and execution. Beyond these accomplishments, Lora continues to address citizen inquiries professionally, manage staff effectively, and present items to the Planning Commission and City Council. Previously, Shayla served as Community Development Director for Douglasville and has worked with multiple municipalities, including the City of South Fulton, Atlanta, Fulton County, and Union City. She believes a municipality's success depends on creating partnerships with the community to protect its beauty, sustainability, economic vitality, and environmental integrity. Shayla is a Certified Public Manager and an active American Planning Association and ICMA member.
