The U.S. National Weather Service Office in Paducah is closely watching the threat for severe weather tonight. Our region has the potential of seeing damaging tornadoes, high winds, and large hail. Timing will be late this evening into the overnight hours. Plus, there could be an additional round of thunderstorms during the first half of Saturday. Please be prepared and stay tuned to a local weather source.

Reminder! You’re invited to a Brownfield Program Neighborhood Meeting on Tuesday, March 18 from 6 until 7 p.m. at the Community Financial Services Bank (CFSB) conference room located at 2550 Irvin Cobb Drive. At this meeting, there will be an overview of the program, how it can benefit Southside neighborhoods, and existing projects especially in the Jefferson Street, Fountain Avenue, and Frenchtown neighborhoods. In May 2022, the City of Paducah received a $500,000 EPA Assessment Grant with the funding goal of implementing strategies to assess, remediate, and forward the development of properties that are underutilized due to a perceived or real environmental impact. Paducah residents are invited to learn about the value of code enforcement and how to improve the health, safety, and beauty of their neighborhood by attending a Neighborhood Conversation meeting. These meetings are hosted by the Paducah Fire Prevention Division in partnership with the Paducah Police Department. There will be three meeting options. ·????????Monday, March 24, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center, 2701 Park Avenue. ·????????Monday, March 31, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the W.C. Young Community Center, 505 South 8th Street. ·????????Monday, April 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Oak Mall Community Room (located in the mall corridor next to Dillard’s Men’s and Home Store). At these meetings, learn about City’s code enforcement process and ordinances specifically related to property maintenance and for high grass and weeds violations. Other topics include neighborhood policing and making your home less attractive to criminals. Staff also will provide information on curbside recycling, kick-start meetings, stormwater and drainage, Spring Clean Up Day, Paducah Citizens’ Academy, and more.?

At last night’s City Commission meeting, Mayor George Bray presented a proclamation to NeuroRestorative proclaiming March as Brain Injury Awareness Month. Each year, one in 60 Americans sustains brain-related injuries from falls, vehicle crashes, assaults, opioid overdoses, sports-related injuries, and other accidents. This month, let’s honor the strength and resilience of those affected by brain injury.

Paducah Water will close one lane of Broadway at South 17th Street/Fountain Avenue beginning Tuesday, March 11. This lane closure will cause South 17th Street to become a temporary dead end at Broadway with no through traffic permitted. This temporary closure is expected to last through Thursday, March 13. This work is to install a new watermain crossing as the final part of the Midtown Watermain Replacement Project.
