We're super proud of our Public Works maintenance staff for this one: Earlier this year, our they found carefully preserved road signs proclaiming “City of Overland Park: Home of Miss America 1966, Debbie Bryant” that had been sitting in storage for nearly five decades. The team tracked Kansas’s first Miss America down and returned this special piece of history to Overland Park royalty. ?? “Overland Park will always be home,” Debbie shared. “It’s a point of pride. The City of Overland Park is proud to announce the hire of Doreen Jokerst as the city’s next Chief of Police. Jokerst brings over 25 years of experience in public safety, most recently serving as the Chief of Police at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she led the department to become Boulder County’s first nationally accredited police force. Her expertise and vision will be key in shaping the future of public safety in Overland Park, and we look forward to her contributions to our community when she joins us in October. This past Saturday, Overland Park City Council members and staff joined the Public Works Department for their annual construction tour, starting with a visit to the Fire Training Center and Traffic Control System.
