Honoring Our Hometown Heroes Today, St. John’s Episcopal School hosted “Hometown Heroes” breakfast to honor the bravery and dedication of our local first responders. The event brought together firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other emergency personnel. ? It was also an inspiring day for local students, who had the chance to meet our heroes face-to-face. They learned about the important roles first responders play, asked questions and shared their gratitude for the courage and care that keep our community safe every day. Family Legacy Irvhin Tarin and his wife Gladis worked for years in the family business, which laid the foundation for them to create their own company. In January, they started GreenTech Diesel Solutions. They specialize in wheel lifts and tires, gas/diesel mechanical, fuel systems, machinery maintenance, fleet services and mobile mechanics. Irvhin’s passion for automobiles has driven him to this point. He loves his work and enjoys seeing his customers happy after modifying a truck. The Odessa man also has big plans for his business that will have a lasting impact on his family. He hopes to pass the company on to his older children so they can continue the family legacy. Spreading Faith Through Haircuts Anthony Roque, Eric Barriga and Donny Bonilla all have one common goal: spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. These Odessa men and their team use their careers to do this. “We wanted to create a barbershop that is set apart from the rest. An environment that is positive and faith-filled, that is family-oriented and kid-friendly. A barbershop that is built on the rock and has a firm foundation in Christ. Our business is built off of the scripture Mathew 6:33 ‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well,’” Anthony said. They originally started a barber ministry giving free haircuts to the homeless and set up a prayer booth at the largest barber battle and expo in Texas called the TX Barber Expo. They have partnered with Hope for the Homeless and serve the homeless on the first Monday of every month. Now, it has grown and they opened?Faithful?Fades?9 months ago. “People leave here not only with an outward transformation but with a restored or renewed faith in Jesus Christ,” Donny said. “We play different types of genres of Christian music and encourage others in their faith. Customers aren’t just clients but seen as brothers and sisters in Christ,” Eric said.
