Street cleaning is underway from March 1 through October 31 (weather permitting), so please take note of the posted no-parking signs in your neighborhood to help us keep our streets clean. Here’s what you need to know: The Public Works Department cleans the entire Newport street grid from March through November. Look for signs (like the one pictured) that list the specific days and times for your street. Our crews sometimes sweep in light rain since wet roads can be easier to clean—and occasionally, the sweeper makes a second pass for thorough coverage. Please ensure your driveway is clear to support these efforts. Do not blow grass clippings, debris, or litter onto the street. This helps prevent clogged storm sewers and minimizes the risk of localized flooding. If temperatures drop below freezing, street sweeping may be delayed. However, if it warms up during the posted times, the sweeper will be in operation. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep Newport beautiful!

Today, City staff and officials traveled to Frankfort to engage with legislators, observe the session, and advocate on behalf of Newport’s citizens. During the visit, they also had the privilege of witnessing the passing of a resolution honoring the legacy of the late Pat Crowley, whose influence will continue to resonate for years to come.
