? Highlights from the AWWA New Jersey Section 2025 Conference! ?? Newark Water and Sewer is celebrating another successful conference cycle. From presenting projects to performing at the Water Hammer, Newark engineers are eager to stay engaged with the latest water industry practices. Newark Environmental Engineer Skylar Reed was the recipient of the 2025 Research Award for her research on carbon-amended biofilters for PFAS removal. Congratulations Skylar! ?? Newark Environmental Engineer Mark Whittaker presented on both the Pequannock Water Treatment Plant upgrades and the proposed rehabilitation of Newark's Rechlorination Station. Way to go! Water Winnie came all the way from Newark and made a surprise appearance at the AWWA Water Tower Building Contest! ?? Peddie Ditch Netting Facility, located at Newark Liberty International Airport, is nearing completion! Last week, Director Kareem Adeem held a site meeting to identify the work ahead in finishing this important piece of infrastructure. What is Peddie Ditch? This facility keeps debris, litter, and other floatable solids out of the Passaic River, and is crucial in mitigating flooding and keeping our waterways clean.
