Position: Municipal ID Specialist
Department: Mayor’s Office of Human Rights & Equity
Description: Municipal ID Specialist will report directly to the Municipal Identification Card Program Manager ensuring residents have access to government-issued identification that enhances community inclusion and participation. The Specialist will provide direct support to applicants, process applications, and maintain accurate records while fostering a welcoming environment. This role requires a commitment to customer service, data integrity, and community engagement.
The Specialist will collaborate with City agencies and nonprofit partners to conduct outreach in community, ensuring equitable access to the municipal ID program and integrating resident feedback. They will work with the Office of Human Rights & Equity to develop outreach strategies and campaign plans, building relationships with community leaders to raise awareness of the program.
In addition to processing and issuing ID cards, the Specialist will participate in outreach efforts to educate marginalized communities about the program’s benefits and eligibility. This role involves using specialized software and hardware, verifying application eligibility, and ensuring accuracy in document checks. The Specialist will assist residents in person, at the main office, and at off-site events like mobile pop-ups, community organizations, and schools. They will also support the Program Manager in planning and executing ID distribution events at various locations.
Education and Experience:
·????????High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in public administration, social services, or a related field preferred.
·????????2+ years of experience in customer service, community outreach, or public service roles. Experience with ID programs, social services, or local government is a plus.
·????????Experience working with marginalized communities, such as youth, homeless individuals, LGBTQ+ and TGNC people, immigrants and refugees, re-entry citizens, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
·????????Experience using hardware such as ID printers and cameras, with the ability to troubleshoot basic operational issues.
