We focus on employee health and wellness through our “Health Rewards” program. We believe these are just a few of the reasons why Minnetonka is a great place to work. Learn more about our culture, including our shared values. Located in Hennepin County just eight miles west of Minneapolis, Minnetonka is a fully developed suburban community of 53,000 residents. Minnetonka is proud of its reputation as a city that preserves its natural resources—residents can enjoy 49 community parks, more than 81 miles of maintained sidewalks and trails and more than 1,000 acres of public open space, as well as natural scenery that includes mature trees, wetlands and prairies. While Minnetonka shares its name with the very popular Lake Minnetonka, the city of Minnetonka includes only one small bay of the lake – Gray’s Bay, which forms the headwaters of Minnehaha Creek. We are grateful and honored to have had City Attorney Corrine Heine with us over the last 12 years, as the go-to counsel for staff and councilmembers for legal advice with a distinctive common sense approach. During her time as city attorney, Heine handled most of the city’s civil matters and supervised two attorneys in charge of prosecution. She attended every city council meeting and advised them on issues on hand. “You deal with a broad range of topics, which is what I think makes the job really interesting,” Heine said. “You might be handling contracts, real estate and zoning issues one day and then employment, data practices and constitutional law on another.” As she retires from the city today, we can't help but already feel the gap she leaves behind and the legacy she's created. We wish her the best as she finds her next passion. Thank you for everything, Corrine.

  • It is an honor to wish this dedicated officer bon voyage as he celebrates his retirement after more than 26 years with the Minnetonka Police Department. Sgt. Allen Ringate started his law enforcement career in the City of Mound before joining the Minnetonka department in January 1999. During his tenure, he has exemplified leadership in every role – and he’s held a lot of them in our department. From field training officer to use of force and firearms instructor, a SWAT team member to department intern coordinator, Ringate’s mentorship helped shape the next generation of law enforcement professionals, providing invaluable guidance and insight to young individuals starting their careers. Ringate has served as a patrol officer, case investigator, patrol and investigations sergeant and a union steward. In 2017, he was honored as the Glen Lake Officer of the Year. One of his most memorable experiences was providing security detail at the 2020 presidential inauguration. "Sgt. Ringate’s career has been marked by his boundless energy and enthusiasm, his unwavering commitment to doing the job right and his adherence to policy and standards,” said Capt. Rachel Meehan. “His active presence and meticulous work ethic has set an example for all who served alongside him.” Thank you, Sgt. Ringate, for your many years of service, professionalism, leadership and dedication to the Minnetonka community. Enjoy retirement!

Minnetonka employees know how to throw down for a good time and a good cause. Our administration and public works departments went head-to-head earlier this week in an employee chili cook-off to raise funds for the Richard Wilson Scholarship Fund. Public Works employees brought the heat with the first- and third-place chilis to be crowned this year’s chili champion. City employees also raised more than $435 to the recreation scholarship fund. This annual friendly competition is yet another way our inclusive and supportive culture makes Minnetonka a great place to work.
