The City of Merriam recently won nine communication awards at the national, state, and local levels! At the City-County Communications & Marketing Association, the City won five awards, including a first-place trophy for the Highlights & Recreation magazine. The City received three awards at the Greater Kansas City PRSA PRISM Awards ceremony, including two gold awards for the Highlights & Recreation magazine and the Slater St. Storybook Relay event. The 2024 Merriam Community & Visitor Guide won first place at the Kansas Tourism Conference for the best visitor guide in the medium budget category. #JustRight #TeamMerriam #Awards

Congrats to 10-year Merriam police veteran Chris Meyers on his promotion from master police officer to sergeant! His wife, Shelbi, and stepson, Wesley, pinned on Meyers' new badge at the Oct. 14 City Council meeting. Meyers said he's excited to start this next chapter in his career. “We have a great department with a lot of great officers and community that supports us, so I’m really looking forward to the future at our department,” Meyers said. Meyers was the 2023 Merriam Police Officer of the Year recipient. #JustRight #TeamMerriam #promoted

105 years! That’s the combined years of service Team Merriam employees have served who were honored at our quarterly awards ceremony. This includes 35 years for Police Chief Darren McLaughlin and 25 years for HR and Administrative Coordinator Kesone Bouvilom and Police Records Clerk Ronda Brumbaugh. Mayor Bob Pape also honored Sgt.
