With his kind and happy-go-lucky nature, Nick finds the greatest joy in his job by interacting with the community. One of Officer Velasquez’s standout moments was when he assisted a Melissa resident stranded with a flat tire. Without a spare, he arranged for a tow truck and ensured they were safely back on the road. His commitment truly goes above and beyond, making sure our community is safe and supported. Known for his commitment to the brotherhood within the department, Officer Leal compares the camaraderie to being on a sports team, where every member feels like a second family. Sergeant Leal has a remarkable ability to connect with the community. During one notable encounter, instead of issuing a ticket, he took the time to listen to the citizen’s situation and learned she was dealing with a difficult divorce. His empathy transformed what could have been a routine stop into a meaningful moment of support and understanding, perfectly capturing the essence of community policing.
