?? ?? Today the City of Mauldin, Greenville Triumph, Greenville Liberty and Hughes Investments announced plans to build a 10,000-seat, multi-use stadium at BridgeWay Station. In addition to being the permanent home for the Triumph and Liberty, the stadium will host youth sports, concerts, festivals and various community events. Mayor Terry Merritt said the stadium will be an asset to the community and called it a “game-changer” for the City of Mauldin, the entire Upstate region and beyond. “This project is another example of how we’re investing in the future of our growing community, bringing people together and becoming a destination in our own right,” Merritt said. In his most recent role, he served as town administrator for the Town of Awendaw, S.C., where he provided strategic leadership and direction to six municipal departments. City Council unanimously voted to appoint Saxton as assistant city administrator at their meeting on Aug. 5. “I’m thrilled to welcome Gregory as our assistant city administrator and look forward to the positive impact he will make in this new position,” Mayor Terry Merritt said. “With his municipal experience, leadership skills and collaborative spirit, Gregory will be a tremendous asset to our growing community, and I’m confident he will help lead the City of Mauldin into a bright future.” The assistant city administrator position was created to provide additional leadership and administrative support to accommodate the City’s rapid growth. Since 2010, Mauldin has grown from a community of just under 23,000 residents to more than 29,000 residents today. That number is projected to increase to 35,000 residents by 2030.
