At the City Council meeting on Monday, March 17, 2025, Mayor Davis and Council recognized Bobby Gervais for his 10 years of dedicated service to the City of Manvel. Bobby has played a vital role in the growth of Manvel as City Attorney, and we thank him for all his hard work over the last decade. We're excited to see what the next decade brings!

Strategically placed at the intersection of State Highway 288 and State Highway 6, just 18 miles south of downtown Houston, the City of Manvel is one that is seeing rapid residential and commercial growth inside the boundaries of its 40 square miles. Since its founding in 1961, the population in Manvel has exploded from less than 5,000 to more than 16,000 in recent years. With its rural community still present and active the in the development of the City, Manvel is dedicated to respecting its history and ensuring it stays connected to its roots. Development is centered around the retention of its small-town, family-oriented feel as both new businesses and subdivisions develop next to horse and cattle ranches. Manvel is located only a short drive from the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, the University of Houston, and Houston’s Hobby Airport, offering access to all the amenities of a major metropolitan area while still being far enough away to provide the relaxed, quiet lifestyle enjoyed by its rural community.

The City of Manvel, TxDOT, and Meridiana held a joint ribbon cutting today, March 10, 2025, to commemorate the completion of the Clark/Jordan Bridge! This project was a collaboration between the three entities and a testament to our shared goal of improving the infrastructure?and quality of our roads and bridges for the Manvel community. We're happy to have been able to partner with them and look forward to working together on future projects!

At the City Council meeting last night, March 3, 2025, Mayor Davis and Council had a few presentations to share! First, Mayor Davis recognized Lydia Kennard, a local Manvel High School student, as "Mayor for the Day" and swore her in. Council recognized Manvel Municipal Court staff for achieving an Honorable Mention in the 2024 Traffic Safety Award with TMCEC and read a proclamation naming March 2025 Theater in Our Schools Month. Finally, Council presented ACTIONS, Inc. of Brazoria County with a $10,000 donation to sponsor elders in Manvel needing assistance.
