Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) non-profit public service agency funds application for 2025 ?https://lnkd.in/gE5swJSJ As determined by the Community Development Advisory Board, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) non-profit public service agency funds are to be used for agency location rent or utility reimbursement of the agency, itself. Attached is the application packet for qualified agencies in Leavenworth City. Questions may be directed to 913-680-2628 or?[email protected]. HUD regulations allow up to 15% of annual CDBG entitlement funds to be allocated to qualified non-profit public service agencies. Last year, the 2024-25 program year awarded $29,500 to 3 agencies, in total. Projection for the 2025-26 program year will be $51,000. Following HUD’s announcement of the City’s official FY2025 entitlement grant, proposed agency budgets will be proportionally increased or decreased from the estimated funding levels to match actual allocation amounts, unless otherwise voted upon by the Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB). Please ensure that your agency qualifies under the guidelines and that you are able to meet all program participation requirements before applying. Due to increased competition for CDBG funding, CDAB has established that agencies whose primary funding priorities are housing/homelessness, health/mental health services, or substance abuse will be preferred. Agencies wanting to apply for rent or utility reimbursement for the 2025 CDBG Program Year must complete and return the application materials and required attachments. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Attachments need to be labeled to the corresponding section. Applicants are expected to attend the CDAB meeting on March 10th.? Submit a hard copy of the application to the Community Development Coordinator at City Hall, 100 N 5th St. on or before 3:00 p.m., February 9, 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.

Andrea Cheatom, Housing Manager for Planters II, has been selected as Employee of the Year for the City of Leavenworth for 2024. Each year, the City Employee Council selects an “Employee of the Quarter” among staff. This year, four outstanding employees were selected: Steve King, Dennis Skaarland, Joanna Fuimaono and Andrea Cheatom. From this list, the Employee of the Year is chosen. Cheatom began working for the City in 2007 as a Housing Intake Specialist. She was promoted in 2017 to Housing Manager. Planters II is a 10-story public housing apartment building for residents who are elderly or medically-certified disabled. Cheatom was nominated for her dedication to the department and the City as a whole. She worked to implement new procedures to reconcile the fee accountant’s books. This year when auditors selected Planters II for an in-depth audit, it was completed successfully. Roberta Beier, Finance Director for the City, said that the audit passed with flying colors. “Andrea was helpful and demonstrated an eagerness to learn and to make sure she was following my new required processes properly,” Beier said. “Andrea was never deterred. From the outset she recognized the value in improving our processes and was 100% on-board. We have now successfully transitioned to our new procedures and are reconciling with fee accountants every month.” The program is known throughout Leavenworth as a well-maintained building. Cheatom was also recognized for her attention to detail, concern for the welfare of her staff as well as the Planters II residents. “I am impressed with Andrea,” Beier said. “I believe she is one of the hardest-working, most dedicated employees the City has. Her hard work, attention to detail, and concern for the welfare of her staff and residents make the Planters II Program the success that it is today.”
