The City of La Habra Police Department is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, customer service-oriented individual for the position of Crossing Guard (Part-Time) that will provide safety for elementary school students as they cross busy streets adjacent to schools before and after school hours. Various split-shift hours are available, Monday through Friday. This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that will be in effect for a period of one year. ABOUT THE POSITION: Crossing Guards determine the proper time to stop traffic, signaling on-coming vehicles by displaying a warning sign, making sure vehicles are stopped, and then directing the children to cross. This position is also responsible for maintaining order among the children as they wait. Hours vary depending on assignment, between 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Crossing Guards are compensated a minimum of three hours a day for each day they work. All training and equipment are provided. All school holidays and vacations (i.e., summer, winter and spring break) will be time off, without pay. INTERESTED IN APPLYING?
