Congrats to Greater Idaho Falls Transit, whose continuing strides in providing affordable and convenient public transportation for the City of Idaho Falls recently received significant recognition. The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) inducted GIFT into the department’s Hall of Fame for Innovation. The department highlighted how GIFT demonstrates innovative concepts and effective problem-solving techniques not previously applied in the public transportation industry. This new service has been so successful that by the end of October 2024, GIFT has given over 220,000 rides in Idaho Falls. To accomplish this, the GIFT fleet travels over 25,000 miles a month, providing 15.25% more rides in 2024 than in 2023. At the helm of GIFT is City of Idaho Falls Transit Coordinator Kade Marquez. The Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce recently nominated Marquez to the 4 under 40 award with finalists announced Thursday at the Chamber’s annual conference. The nomination highlights Marquez’s outstanding service to GIFT in propelling a successful on-demand service in Idaho Falls. Marquez joined the City of Idaho Falls in the Spring of 2022 as the City’s sole employee who oversees the program.
