The West Virginia Emergency Management Division's (WVEMD) IFLOWS team, in partnership with the City of Huntington’s Office of Innovation, installed a rainfall gauge at Kinetic Park along Fourpole Creek last week. Monitored by WVEMD, this sensor offers real-time data to inform residents about creek flooding. Accessible via a public dashboard, this initiative, which is part of the SMART Cities program, comes at no cost to the city and marks the beginning of several other planned SMART City projects. Real-time data provided by the rainfall gauge can be viewed at https://lnkd.in/eQgjxsSx There will be a city-branded website that will contain this data and more in the coming months.

Huntington Bank’s Chief Investment Officer John Augustine?gave the bank's economic outlook and market overview for 2024 recently at a breakfast meeting at the Marshall Health Network Arena. Augustine said employment data comparing Huntington, Charleston, Morgantown and Parkersburg shows Huntington’s Tri-State area as the leading employer. “The Huntington MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) is recovering nicely from the pandemic and is the only MSA whose employment is above prepandemic levels,” he said. “The other three cities are not. They’re not back at peak employment levels.”
