Congratulations to the City of Greensburg, Indiana, on their brand-new Street and Sanitation Department building and Fire Headquarters! We were thrilled to celebrate the Grand Opening of these incredible 21,000-square-foot spaces on Saturday. It was a privilege to hear from Mayor Marsh and witness Chief Nathan Stoermer award Senior Project Manager John Bryant the title of “Honorary Fire Chief.” The Larry D. Filler Station No. 1 symbolizes safety and progress, giving firefighters a space to train, decompress, and live comfortably. The Street and Sanitation Department building now houses all the city's safety equipment under one roof. Today, Accelerate Indiana Municipalities awarded the Placemaking Award to the Building Bridges Inclusion Park. The park, located in Greensburg, is known for its universal design and sensory-rich environment, allows children of all abilities and ages to engage, play, and grow through the science of play. ?? Upcoming Road Closures in Greensburg ?? October 14: Monfort St. between Washington & Main will close for utility replacement. October 25: Washington St. between Monfort & Jackson will close for the first phase of streetscape improvements. The City, in partnership with HWC Engineering, has awarded Schutte Excavating for Washington Street’s reconstruction from Franklin to Monfort, funded by multiple grants and local contributions. Work will span from Oct. 2024 - Sept. 2025 in phases. Schedules may change, and updates will be communicated. The Greensburg Police Department hosted?officer training on the LifeVac,?a new tool that all Greensburg public safety will deploy in their vehicles in order to better respond to calls of adults and children choking. The LifeVac can not only be utilized by public safety, but by anyone. Mayor Marsh, Chief McNealy, and Officer Dillan Able?commented on?this new tool and programming, including Officer Able's personal experience using the LifeVac to safe his daughter's life. Governor Eric Holcomb announced Friday several appointments to various state boards and commissions, including the appointment of Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh to the Indiana Land Resources Council, a board within the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
