  • Greeley’s Water and Sewer Department is getting well-deserved recognition from Denver’s KUSA-TV, 9NEWS for an innovative approach to restoring water quality after the 2020 Cameron Peak Fire. To address post-wildfire impacts, the team turned to an unexpected but highly effective partner—llamas! These sure-footed animals helped transport logs across difficult terrain, supporting the creation of natural filtration systems in local rivers. This effort reduced sediment and debris, improving water quality and easing the burden on our treatment plants. Innovative solutions like this highlight Greeley’s commitment to sustainability and resilience in water management. • Last night’s State of the City was more than just a speech—it was a true community experience! Mayor John Gates delivered a powerful and heartfelt final address, reflecting on our city’s progress and vision for the future. But we didn’t stop there. We took an innovative approach to ensure this event was accessible, engaging, and welcoming to all: ● Childcare for school-aged children ● A cry room for parents with young kids ● A special free bus route for those without transportation ● Live interpretation in the most widely spoken languages in our community ● City leadership on-site to discuss major initiatives and answer questions ● Incredible local music from local band and Greeley favorite, The Burroughs ● Delicious food by Aunt Helen’s and a cash bar From families to business leaders, long-time residents to newcomers, we created a space where everyone could be part of the conversation about Greeley’s future. Thank you to all who joined us for an unforgettable night! If you missed it, stay tuned for Mayor Gates’ full speech recording. Here’s to a strong, connected, and thriving 2025 for Greeley! #Greeley #Community #Innovation #StateOfTheCity #CityofGreeley

Greeley is growing—and fast! 9NEWS recently sat down with City Manager Raymond Lee to discuss Greeley’s rapid growth and what’s driving it. With approximately 116,000 residents today, our city is one of the fastest-growing in Colorado and the nation, adding about 2,000 new residents each year. So, what’s fueling this growth? Greeley’s access to land and water plays a major role. With enough water capacity to support up to 450,000 people and plans for 12,000 new rooftops in west Greeley, our city is well-positioned for the future. To ensure we grow sustainably, Greeley has launched Vision 2037, focusing on key areas like infrastructure, transit, and neighborhood connectivity. Read more about our city's growth and future plans in the KUSA-TV, 9NEWS article here: https://lnkd.in/ggtcpeK6 #GrowingGreeley #GreeleyColorado #SmartGrowth #FutureReady
