The City of Fort Walton Beach Landing Improvements Phase II - The bid opening date has been extended. The City of Fort Walton Beach Purchasing Department is extending the bid opening date which was to occur tomorrow, March 28 to April 11, 2024. See attached Addendum 1 for details. Congratulations to our Chief of Police Robert Bage, MPA Bage on being awarded the STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH-Okaloosa County Health Improvement Plan (OCHIP) "Champion of the Year" for working on issues affecting our local community such as opioid overdoses, affordable housing, injury prevention, and diversion programs. As our police chief, he has worked diligently with the health department and our community partners on behalf of our residents and businesses to tackle a variety of issues affecting public safety. Our PIO Team, Public Information Officer-Marketing Manager Mikiko Land Tucker, MBA and Public Relations Specialist Devon Ravine, were awarded for their participation in the production of a public safety video for Pedestrian Safety month as they collaborated with PIOs at?Okaloosa County,?Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, and the municipalities of City of Crestview, City of Destin, and?City of Niceville. The City of Fort Walton Beach has issued an Invitation to Bid (ITB) # 24-004 for Professional Planning Services -- Downtown Design Guidelines Manual. The deadline is Feb. 8, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. The bid documents can be found here: https://lnkd.in/g8xbx-bt The City's Growth Management Department is seeking a qualified professional planning firm or consultant to facilitate a community planning process that culminates in the creation of a Downtown Design Guidelines Manual for the Downtown area of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The selected consultant will facilitate the public outreach efforts, develop conceptual elements based on the input received through the public participation efforts, and prepare recommendations for the urban design for Downtown Fort Walton Beach. The guidelines manual will establish a “toolbox” of architectural components that will achieve the desired downtown vision while providing flexibility to existing property owners and new developers. The Downtown Design Guidelines are intended to enhance the success of the broader CRA (Community Redevelopment Area) efforts and concentrate the focus on improving the vibrant economic potential of the downtown area.
