Perhaps it's only fitting that the 750,000-gallon City of Faribault landmark used to recognize various causes throughout the year was recently recognized itself. ?? The 202-foot-tall, elevated water tower in the City's Northern Industrial Park was recently recognized as the Tank of the Year by the Steel Tank Institute/Steel Plate Fabricators Association (STI/SPFA). The honor was awarded to the Louisville-based Caldwell Tanks, Inc., which was contracted the project through the City of Faribault and Bolton & Menk, Inc. Ms. Kynlee is going to have quite the story to tell her friends at Divine Mercy on this gloomy Friday. Kynlee was the winner of the #Faribault Public Works Department’s raffle held at Scary at Harry’s for a ride to school in a snowplow and on Friday, Nov. 22, Kynlee climbed aboard the City plow truck with Streets Foreperson Darrell Haag. Something tells us this will be a memory Kynlee will hold dearly for years to come.?

The City of Faribault has lit its water tower green as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans. The National Association of Counties and the?National Association of County Veterans Service Officers?encourage those able to join Operation Green Light as a way to show support for veterans by lighting buildings and residences green from Nov. 4-11. By shining a green light, we will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported. The annual Veterans Days Ceremony will be held at the Rice County Veterans Memorial at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11.?

We were happy to host staff from the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) and our neighboring communities this morning to discuss issues impacting our area. The LMC, which represents more than 800 member cities, serves its membership through advocacy, education and training, policy development, risk management, and other services. A special thanks to Luke Fischer, LMC Executive Director, Justin Miller, LMC President and City of Lakeville, Minnesota - Government City Administrator, and Daniel Lightfoot, Senior Intergovernmental Relations Representative, for continuing the long-standing relationship of working together for the betterment of our communities. By having these informal conversations about topics important to member cities, the League can better represent the City while advocating for communities like us at the Legislature.

After years of marketing the property to no avail, the City has been awarded a $487,000 deferred loan through Minnesota Housing to help facilitate and expand workforce rental housing in Faribault. The Community Action Center - Faribault plans to launch a public capital campaign to close the final funding gap over the winter. https://lnkd.in/gkGadkcS
