Recognized for their positive impact on our community’s designed environment, these projects showcase innovation and dedication to enhancing Evanston. The awards went to: ? Robert Crown Community Center for New Construction ? Howard Street Theater & Theo Ubique for Rehabilitation and Renovation ? Evanston Skate Park for Landscape Design With nearly 40 outstanding projects honored, we’re proud to have the City’s work featured. Exciting news! The City has been awarded a $100,000 Love Your Block grant from the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University. This funding will support resident-led neighborhood revitalization projects, helping to strengthen community connections and amplify local voices. As one of 16 newly selected U.S. cities, Evanston will join the largest cohort in the program's history. Today, the City of Evanston and Cook County Government celebrated the grand opening of the new Evanston Animal Shelter at 2310 Oakton Street: https://lnkd.in/gJybnGmy The state-of-the-art, 8,800-square-foot facility was made possible by $2.85 million in funding through Cook County Animal and Rabies Control along with significant contributions from the City of Evanston and Evanston Animal Shelter Association. The building includes amenities like a medical suite, isolation areas for sick animals, outdoor dog runs, and more. It also serves as Evanston’s first zero on-site carbon emissions building! Exciting news! The City has received two significant grants to support important initiatives. 1) The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the City a $985,000 Innovative Finance and Asset Concession Grant. This competitive transit-oriented development grant will help us implement the recommendations of the Putting Assets to Work (PAW) strategy, adopted by the City Council last spring. Learn more! bit.ly/3XWEIY8 2) In partnership with Connections for the Homeless, the City has also been awarded a $1.8 million grant from the State of Illinois’ CDBG-CV Urban Shelter Program. These funds will support the rehabilitation of Hilda’s Place, a 30-bed homeless shelter operated by Connections. More info: bit.ly/3XXJqVG.
