The holiday season is upon us! With the treats and feasts in abundance, we want to remind residents of the importance of proper FOG (fats, oils, and grease) disposal. Fats, oils, and grease eventually become solid rather than liquid and will stick to the sides of sewer pipes and clog them. This can cause a back-up and an overflow in your home or into the streets and streams. Fats, oils, and grease are a serious maintenance problem for the City of Edmond and the sewer back-ups caused by these elements are unpleasant and costly for homeowners. Here are a few ways you can help prevent back-ups in your home: ? Never pour grease down sinks or toilets. ? Use an empty food tin to store butter, shortening, lard, meat fat, and oils. Then freeze the grease to make it solid and throw it in the trash. ? Scrape fats, grease, and food from plates and cooking utensils into the trash. ? Use basket strainers in your sinks to catch food and empty them into the trash. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/giiFAwUX
