Yesterday, we honored Lisa Vik, Dispatch Supervisor, as she retired after an impressive 24 years of service to the Eden Prairie Police Department.
At the celebration, Chief Matt Sackett presented Lisa with the department's Career Achievement Award. Here are some excerpts from the award:
“During her tenure, Lisa has made a significant positive impact on the dispatch center and the entire department. She regularly picks up dispatch shifts when her team is short-staffed including nights, weekends and holidays. She then has to carve out time to complete all the other tasks of a PSAP supervisor such as pulling 911 call details for investigative purposes, being subpoenaed and researching equipment and software to keep the Eden Prairie PSAP up to date with emerging technology and BCA and NCIC compliance audits.
Lisa’s positive attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn foster a supportive work environment, ultimately driving collective success. Each of the newly hired 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators in recent years have been pleasantly surprised by the involvement Lisa has in the PSAP as a supervisor either by covering shifts, asking for input or keeping everyone informed about upcoming trainings.
In addition, Lisa includes all the Telecommunicators in decisions that affect them directly. She is open to new ideas whether you’ve been on the job for 30+ years or are a brand-new hire. Lisa also has a great sense of humor that keeps up the spirits of those around her.
Each day Lisa demonstrates reliability, collaboration and initiative. She communicates effectively, listens actively and respects diverse perspectives. Lisa takes ownership of tasks, adapts to challenges and contributes innovative solutions. Lisa makes herself available to help when other divisions have questions or need guidance, and if she does not know the answer, she utilizes her vast resources in the dispatch community.”
Lisa will be greatly missed in the Dispatch Center and throughout the department. We will you all the best in retirement, Lisa!
