This Women's History Month, we recognize the diverse and vital roles women play in our city organization, including the women in our Executive Leadership Team, below (L-R: Kati Fox, Jayme Lopko, Cheryl Turney, Zeta Fail, Bonnie Kling, PHR, Kelly Schmidt, MSRLS, CPRE and Erin Hyder). Whether leading policy initiatives, managing critical infrastructure, or serving our residents directly, you empower us all.

Proof that the city and county still work together and collaborate on a lot of projects for the community: On Thursday, March 6, City Manager José R. Madrigal, ICMA-CM brought some baked yum yums to La Plata County employees before his regular monthly meeting with County Manager Chuck Stevens. The sweet turn of events was a thank you for their ongoing collaboration and work with the city.

We want to commend Shaun McCarthy and David Tabar from our Customer Service Division of Finance for their quick thinking and calm demeanor during two recent incidents. While responding to routine repairs, they also had to assist with putting out fires (literally!). Their swift actions prevented what could have been much larger problems. This demonstrates the strength, unity, and core values of our team.

City of Durango staff rocked their tutus for #TutuTuesday on February 25. A fun and spirited way to bring some joy to the office. It's always great to see everyone come together and have some fun.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Adri Gethings for her exceptional initiative in developing a new employee recognition program for the 911 department. Recognizing the importance of acknowledging her fellow dispatchers' contributions, Adri has dedicated countless hours of her own time to this project, all while supervising a shift and training new hires. Her commitment to teamwork, innovation, and the well-being of her colleagues is truly commendable.

The City of Durango honored Devon Schmidt today for her years of service and dedication to our finance team. Devon will be leaving us here in Durango for a new position in Florida. We extend our warmest well wishes to Devon on her next adventure.

#Womenleadersrock says it all when describing the women who make the City of Durango such a great place to work. Staff took part in the inaugural Durango Women's Leadership Conference on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Fort Lewis College. The meeting sponsored TedX-style talks and panel discussions featuring local female powerhouses spanning the generations. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Fort Lewis College women's athletics programs.

We would like to recognize Theresa Hill for her significant contributions to the recent payroll implementation. Theresa was responsible for the crucial back-end accounting input to the software developers and collaborated extensively with HR over several months to ensure a successful launch. Her dedication and expertise were invaluable to this project.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Detective Ball for his exceptional dedication and professionalism. He recently took on an unassigned and challenging case involving a severely injured individual found unconscious. Without hesitation, Detective Ball pursued investigative leads, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, service, and integrity. His commitment to our core values is truly commendable.

Craig = Permit Superhero! This legend zipped through a conduit installation permit in record time (we're talking DAYS faster than usual!). Talk about excellent customer service!
