?? Congratulations to the First Graduating Class of the Columbia Police Training Academy! ?? On March 14, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 14 recruits from the Columbia Police Training Academy - our very first class! These new officers have completed more than 730 hours of rigorous training, surpassing Missouri’s state requirements by over 130 hours. ??♂??? This achievement marks a significant milestone in our department’s history. For the first time, the Columbia Police Training Academy—a collaboration with Lincoln University—is preparing recruits to serve and protect our community. The recruits will now begin their 16-week field training with experienced officers, gaining hands-on experience and continuing their journey to become officers who embody the values of the Columbia Police Department. ??♀??? Let's show a round of applause and welcome our newest Columbia MO Police Department members Logan Arellanes, Chad Drinnon, Donald Eveler, Jerry Figgins, Nathan Harrell, Benjamin Ludwig, Dakota Melson, Adam Nelson, Lane Pierce, Matthew Reilly, Tyler Richerson, Natavion Thomas and Garrett Tramel. Aron Carpenter joined as an airport safety officer and will work at the Columbia Regional Airport. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and look forward to seeing them serve our community with excellence. On this Transit Driver Appreciation Day, we recognize the dedicated drivers who ensure the smooth operation of transportation in Columbia, regardless of weather conditions or traffic challenges. Today, we highlight Krista, one of our exemplary Paratransit drivers, who shares her commitment to serving the community. "I love feeling like I'm helping the disadvantaged community," she expresses, recounting a touching moment with a passenger who gifted her flowers for her new home. We acknowledge the efforts of all our drivers, including Steve, Melvin, and Lacondance, who contribute to the excellence of our transit system. Please take a moment to express your gratitude to our Go COMO drivers. Your appreciation is invaluable. #TransitDriverAppreciation #GoCOMO #ThankYouDrivers #ColumbiaMO
