Where possibilities grow

关于我们

The City of Clarkston, located in DeKalb County, Georgia (U.S. state), United States, is a thriving and diverse community. With a population of 7,554 during the 2010 census, the city experienced significant growth due to two annexations in 2015 and 2016, as well as an increase in newcomers settling in the area, resulting in an estimated population of 14,538. Clarkston is a true melting pot, embracing its rich cultural tapestry. In the past, the city was known for its refugee asylum programs in the United States, which made it an ideal destination for newcomers from various backgrounds seeking a fresh start. The housing market offered a diverse range of homes, from multi-family units and charming cottages to spacious single-family homes. As residents from the Atlanta urban core relocated farther out, Clarkston provided an attractive alternative with convenient access to public transportation and major highways. The city's diversity is palpable, especially evident in its local high school, which proudly educates students from over 50 different countries. A testament to this cultural richness, the local mosque draws in around 800 worshippers, creating a vibrant sense of community and belonging. With approximately half of its population originating from outside the U.S., Clarkston exemplifies the beauty and strength that come from embracing diversity. Moreover, Clarkston boasts campuses of the Georgia Piedmont Technical College and Georgia State University, providing excellent educational opportunities to further enrich the lives of its residents. In Clarkston, the blend of cultures, traditions, and perspectives creates a dynamic and inclusive environment. The city stands as a shining example of unity, respect, and appreciation for all who call it home.

As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous learning, City staff participated in a mandated Narcan training last week. Facilitated by Georgia Harm Reduction Coalition, this session provided essential knowledge and hands-on practice in administering Narcan (naloxone), a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. We are grateful to Georgia Harm Reduction for not only equipping our team with these critical skills but also donating four cases of Narcan to the City. Each staff member also received Narcan to take home, ensuring they are prepared to help in an emergency. Through training and development, the City of Clarkston remains dedicated to keeping our community safe. #CommunityFirst #SafetyPreparedness?#NarcanTraining #GeorgiaHarm?#ClarkstonGA?#ClarkstonCares
