The first phase of Commerce Street reconstruction is complete! Improvements from Beck Street to Lee Avenue included replacing the old asphalt with a 37-foot-wide concrete street and adding 6-foot sidewalks for pedestrian safety. Water and sewer lines were upgraded, and utilities were moved underground. The stormwater system was upgraded with new curbs, gutters, and underground drainage, and the roadway over Cottonwood Branch Tributary No. 7 was replaced to enhance stormwater performance. The age-old question for full-time residents and students in Aggieland: What is there to do in this town? New on Brazos Matters: Destination Bryan’s John Friebele and Visit College Station's Jeremiah Cook share some ideas that probably go beyond what you know, and that could preserve some sanity when your next batch of visitors arrive. ?? https://lnkd.in/gfH4Y6ji ?? https://lnkd.in/gPUVnDyq ?? https://lnkd.in/gDSSN_9d

For almost 2 years now, Bryan + College Station Public Library System has been implementing, on a trial basis, Late Fine Amnesty Program in an attempt to reduce barriers to library access for residents by reinstating accounts of patrons who have been previously blocked due to late fines, regardless of how long they have been blocked. The program also waives any unpaid fines those patrons have accumulated, and eliminates all late fines on materials. At City of Bryan Council meeting yesterday, the program became permanent. Council sees the value of library service to our communities and approved to allow us to continue practicing fine free permanently. BCSPLS is now among many libraries in the nation to go fine free. Let’s make this one of our professions best practices to ensure equitable access to all. Thanks to City of Bryan and City of College Station for their continuous support of our libraries.
