The City of Bristol, Virginia is an independent city located in Southwest Virginia, on the other side of the state line from its sister city, Bristol, Tennessee. Bristol, Virginia is a hub of industry and business in the region. Bristol was recognized as the "Birthplace of Country Music", according to a resolution passed by the US Congress in 1998. Bristol is also home to the Bristol Casino which opened on July 8, 2022.
