We hope you are enjoying all of the events for ELEVATE: 50 Years of Culture! We’re kicking off week four with the 50 Years of Culture Memorabilia Virtual Gallery Exhibition on view now through October 13th. This digital exhibition pays tribute to the founding of the Bureau of Cultural Affairs during Mayor Maynard Jackson’s historic first term, highlighting its profound impact on Atlanta’s cultural development. Then, join us on Friday, October 11th, at 10:00 AM in Grant Park for the Ryan Gander Unveiling. Councilmember Jason Winston and The Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs invite you to experience Things Just Happened to Him, a striking new sculpture by internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Ryan Gander. Installed just outside the Grant Park parking garage on Boulevard, this artwork is the latest addition to Atlanta’s public art collection, made possible by the Renew Atlanta Infrastructure Bond’s Landmark Public Art initiative. Finally, this Sunday, October 13th at 2:00 PM, experience Reflections, an interactive art installation that delves into the power of personal stories in shaping the future of medicine. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a healthcare advocate, or simply curious, this immersive experience offers something for everyone. All ELEVATE events are free and open to the public. This morning, high school students from Atlanta Public Schools had the opportunity to experience Cirque Kalabanté – Afrique en Cirque at the Rialto Theatre! Created by Yamoussa Bangoura and inspired by daily life in his native Guinea, Afrique en Cirque showcases the vibrant beauty, strength, and artistry of West African culture. Through stunning acrobatics, gravity-defying moves, and contemporary Afro-Jazz rhythms, these performers bring to life the energy and joy of young West Africans. Through our Cultural Experience Project (CEP), we’re proud to provide these transformative experiences, ensuring that students across Atlanta have access to the arts—completely free of charge. Funded by the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, CEP continues to enrich the lives of our youth, fostering inspiration and growth through art. #CirqueKalabanté #AfriqueEnCirque #CulturalExperience #YearoftheYouth #50yearsofculture #oca50years
