The majority of New York City apartments have A/C—roughly 89%—But access is uneven across neighborhoods, dropping as low as 76% in some Bronx communities. And nearly 500,000 households across the city have A/C, but don’t use it due to costs. https://bit.ly/4hPCFgw

关于我们
City Limits uses investigative journalism through the prism of New York City to identify urban problems, examine their causes, explore solutions, and equip communities to take action. Founded in 1976 in the midst of New York’s fiscal crisis, City Limits exists to inform democracy and empower citizens to create a more just city. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by foundation support, ad sponsorship and donations from readers. City Limits Shelter Count City Limits publishes regular tallies attempting to more accurately track the number of people staying in New York City’s homeless shelters, a population that spans five municipal systems run by four different agencies. Spanish Language Initiative City Limits is growing closer to its goal of becoming a fully bilingual investigative local media outlet, a first of its kind in the city. City Limits' series "Lo que necesita saber sobre" has published guides and explainers in Spanish and English which serve as real-service journalism, news-you-can-use pieces for immigrant and undocumented New Yorkers. CLARIFY | The City Limits Accountability Reporting Initiative For Youth Since the fall of 2014, City Limits has operated a paid training program for high-school and college-aged students who learn and apply the skills of investigative journalism as they report on issues affecting their own neighborhoods.

The Association for Neighborhood & Housing Development (ANHD)—founded in the 1970s to reclaim the growing number of burned and abandoned apartment buildings across the city—turns 50 this year. "It often goes unrecognized in how the city tells its story and its history and its arc," Executive Director Barika Williams told City Limits. "When you think about who the actors were who were still there and still investing in their communities and neighborhoods when the Bronx was burning—it’s our members, right? There are people who really dug in and said, ‘I’m going to save this building, and then I’m going to go down the block, and I’m going to do this building, and then I’m going to do this building,’ and dedicated their lives to that." https://bit.ly/3ZZJqWB

The city must maintain its contract with Mainchance, a drop-in center in Midtown East that's been serving homeless New Yorkers for over 20 years, a New York State Judge ruled last week. The city planned to terminate Mainchance’s contract on June 30 of this year until a lawsuit delayed the center’s closing while the court considered whether the city ended the contract arbitrarily. “It’s a David and Goliath story to tell the truth,” said the center's director, Brady Crain.
