关于我们
Since 1903, the City Club of Chicago has been the stage for momentous announcements, historic debates and enlightened analyses of the important affairs of the region. The original City Club members -- the most prominent leaders and opinion-makers in the areas of business, government, media, education and civic affairs have shaped our region's history and played key roles in its seminal events, the landmark elections and the dramatic changes in public policy. Today's City Club is a vibrant organization taking an active role in the most important policy issues of our times. Our events feature preeminent speakers on topics ranging from health care and mass transit to city development, education and state politics. Through its speakers and forums, the City Club provides an arena for function attendees to explore and exchange ideas and have opportunities to interact with each other.

?? Last week's "Promoting Equitable Cancer Care and Research in Chicago's Communities of Color" was a great success! We gathered with inspiring advocates—including Commissioner Dr. Olusimbo (Simbo) Ige, UIC Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda, Dr. Edwin McDonald IV, Tawa Jogunosimi Mitchell, and Adrian Talbott—to rally around equitable access to cancer care and research in our communities. Thanks to the commitment of attendees and supporters, proceeds from this event directly supported The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which funds critical blood cancer research to help find a cure and improve life for patients and their families. Together, we’re making a meaningful impact toward a healthier, more equitable future! ?? Yesterday, Project Unloaded had the privilege of participating in an inspiring conversation at the City Club of Chicago in partnership with The Joyce Foundation and WTTW/Chicago PBS. Our team presented an overview of our data-backed approach and recent fall campaigns. Then, we convened a panel featuring our Program Manager Olivia Brown,MPH, CHES, Selwyn O. Rogers Jr. from UChicago Medicine, Jadine Chou from Chicago Public Schools' Chief of Safety and Security, and Youth Council member Laia McClain, who first joined us through our community partnership with After School Matters. We explored the role of youth-led narrative and cultural change, focusing on how Gen Z and social media can change gun culture. It was encouraging to see so many new faces in the audience! Thanks to all who joined us. I am so humbled to be back at the City Club of Chicago podium! Daniel Gibbons, thank you for the invitation and for your leadership creating this true exchange of ideas. Amanda Agosti provided incredible support on the event as always! I am who I am because of my family, including my parents, and am grateful that so many of my family members and friends like family, and people I love working with, like CPL Commissioner Chris Brown, CPL Foundation President Brenda Langstraat Bui, Beth Zachara Davis, PACE ED Melinda Metzger, Disability Lead ED Emily Blum, Lincoln Park Zoo ED Megan Ross, Ph.D., William Green, access extraordinaire at LPZ, Brittany Pyle, amazing accessibility leader at Chicago Humanities, Christopher Wilson and Lauren Pincus of the Cultural Access Collaborative, Obama Presidential Library leaders Joshua Harris and Marquis Miller, Shannon Moutinho from City Colleges of Chicago, Ryan Farrell and fellow deaf lawyer Laura Gold who traveled from Cleveland to be here and so many more. I also shared about the incredible work we do at the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) and my phenomenal team - I am so lucky to have the team we have built. We can accomplish so much when we support one another. The work we do on accessibility also must include a honest take on how we think about disability. Please watch and check out my story about "The Playground" and more, and please let me know your thoughts. Video below of my speech, with ASL interpretation provided by Jen C. McElroy and Kristen Gaspar, open captions provided by Tina Dillon.
