During this #VeteransDay, we would like to thank all who served and are continuing to serve. Veterans not only protect our nation; our research shows they also play a vital role as bridge builders within our communities. According to a May 2024 survey, Americans across the political spectrum overwhelmingly view veterans as trustworthy, with at least 80% from each major political party expressing their confidence in veterans as trusted messengers. These results illustrate how veterans can bridge divides in a country with drastic partisan differences.

?? Happy Eleciton Day! While our dedicated election officials around the country continue to count every vote, we wanted to share our latest data on election trust. Not surprisingly, stark differences in trust and confidence in the 2024 election results remain across political parties. More than 9 in 10 Democrats believe they’ll be able to trust the results of this election, while only 70% of Independents and 55% of Republicans say the same. However, confidence rises considerably when voters think about elections on a local level: trust increases by 21% among Republicans and 10% among Independents. This aligns with our research which shows messaging focused on the local nature of elections can play a critical role in building voter trust. ?? #Elections2024 #TrustInDemocracy #VoterConfidence #DataDriven

According to the latest findings from the Institute for Citizens & Scholars and Citizen Data, young adults today are grappling with a mix of frustration and hope. While many feel disillusioned by the current political landscape, they are also deeply committed to making a difference. This generation is not sitting on the sidelines—they are seeking meaningful ways to engage and drive change, but they want something more than just partisan bickering. At Unify America, we see this desire reflected in our conversations with students across the country. Gen Z is hungry for respectful dialogue and collaborative problem-solving—conversations where they can share their views and actively listen to others, even when they disagree. These skills are critical to strengthening our democracy. Check out the full report to explore the civic outlook of young adults, and let’s keep the conversation going about how we can foster spaces that encourage civil dialogue and political engagement. #CivicEngagement #GenZ #PoliticalDialogue #UnifyAmerica #CivicOutlook #HigherEd

At a moment when it seems like Americans are more divided than ever, new research from Urban Institute and Citizen Data shows that across both political parties, financially secure Americans are more likely to be satisfied with #democracy and more likely to #trust election results. Financially secure Democrats and Republicans are also more open to reducing social divisions than their financially insecure counterparts, suggesting that civic leaders can strengthen American democracy by improving people's #financialwellbeing. ?? NEW from Citizen Data Research: a significant perception gap exists in misinformation beliefs. Our October survey reveals that Americans tend to think their friends and family are more susceptible to believing false information on social media than they are themselves.?As seen below,?while only 17% of voters admit to believing misinformation at least once a week, 35% think their friends or family members fall for it just as frequently. So how do Americans actually come across false or misleading content? Read more from our latest blog here: https://lnkd.in/dbrgxbVA

?? New data we collected alongside Urban Institute reveals a strong link between financial well-being and civic engagement. While much focus has been placed on the groups of voters campaigns need to mobilize to win, less attention has been given to how a voter's financial situation might impact their ability to participate in civic activities and satisfaction with democracy. Interestingly, financially?insecure Republicans are 2x more likely than Democrats to be unsatisfied with the way democracy works for them, suggesting that?financial security is a significant contributing factor to whether Republicans are satisfied with democracy or not. With less than one week until Election Day, how prepared are Americans to vote? Building on our previous findings from September, almost all generations scored higher on our voter readiness index than they did last month. Concerningly, Gen Z seems to have, on average, experienced a decrease in vote readiness across all of our measures (identifying their polling place, having researched the issues on the ballot, and having researched the candidates for election). As our partners work to educate and turn out voters, it will be critically important to continue efforts to reach Gen Z voters during this final stretch.?
