On November 5th, Washington voters opted to turn down Initiative 2109, an initiative that would have repealed the capital gains tax! ????? ? This victory means continued financial support for essential school funding and educational programs across the state. Since 2022, the capital gains tax—targeted by this initiative— has been a crucial source of funding for childcare, schools, and other public services.? ? With this decision, funding for public education remains secure, allowing us to maintain and expand resources for students, teachers, and school communities.? ? This is a big win for education, helping keep essential resources available to ensure every young person in WA state has the tools they need to succeed! ???? ? ?? We are thrilled to welcome Megan to the Communities In Schools of Washington team as our new Marketing & Communications Coordinator!? ? With over 13 years of experience as a Graphic Artist for Spokane Public Schools and two years as the Digital Marketing Manager for Canopy Credit Union, Megan will be instrumental in developing and implementing CISWA’s graphic design, web content, social media strategy, email marketing, and more. Her extensive background and commitment to excellence make her a fantastic addition to our team.? ? In addition to her work, Megan launched her own online ecommerce business in 2010 and works as a freelance marketing and design contractor, collaborating with various clients and agencies. Her passion for contributing to her community and her creativity are just a few of the reasons we’re excited to have her on board!? ? Welcome to the team, Megan!
